My photo
I keep and breed a small number of Australian grass parakeets. This blog provides information and pictures of my birds and a log of their breeding activities. It is also a photo blog of landscapes and wildlife. My dog Buster may also make an appearance. For Nest Box Live - click the link above or visit my website!

Turquoisine troubles

It's been an up-hill struggle with the turks this year. At the start of the season I didn't have any fit hens, with Goldie at deaths door and her daughter Phoenix showing erratic behaviour. I had thought I'd got Phoenix and Goldie back to health, but they eventually died. Worst was Goldie who died in the nest box after laying 4 eggs.
Thankfully my new hen turq is doing well with Rudolph and I think she now has three 2nd round chicks.  She's also sat on two of Goldie's eggs  which I swapped for infertile ones.  If they do hatch they'll be a week or so late.  The other two eggs are under the bourkes.

The pictures are of the young Cinnamon turq from the 1st round.
