Some pictures of me new bengalese finches.
I don't know much about these finches apart from that they are captive hybrids (they don't occur in the wild) and are fairly easy to keep and most importantly are reasonably quiet. I don't even know what colours these are.....fawn & white, fawn ?? Or if I have a cock and hen. I think that I have heard one singing (the cock) which I believe is the only way to sex them.
cute societies! the one on the left appears to be a dilute fawn self. the one on the right I would probably call pied chestnut.
ReplyDeleteAssuming I have got a cock and hen, what colours will they give?
ReplyDeletedepending on if they are split to anything - with societies, there is often surprises. if they are not split to anything, you should get chestnut babies since chestnut is dominant over fawn. dilute mutation is autosomal recessive. pied is often dominant, so the babies can be pied chestnut though it's possible the combo will give self chestnut.
